We really like our jobs and we have a great home – they’re just 2,000 miles apart. We’re looking for great renter(s) to enjoy our beautiful Salt Lake City home while we pine away for it in our tiny NYC studio. We have loved living, entertaining and enjoying time in this home and hope it will be a great fit for you.

Beautiful Historic Downtown Building

The Ivanhoe has all the charm and character of a turn-of-the-century building without the hassle of old construction. It has been restored beautifully to maintain the rich history of this 100-year old building.

The Neighborhood

The building is located right downtown Salt Lake City within walking distance of grocery stores, restaurants, TRAX, the library, downtown events and the recently-completed City Creek Center. The Ivanhoe is a short drive to the University of Utah, Westminster College, hospitals and the Salt Lake City International Airport with easy access to I-15, I-80 and I-215. This secure building features remote control entry and key pad access. Our unit also includes a parking spot behind the building with secure access to the unit from the parking lot or from the courtyard.

The Unit

This top-floor condo is the most unique unit in building. It’s the only unit with the original floor plan, moldings, doors and windows. The traditional floor plan and details augment the charm of the building’s exterior.

For your convenience, this home is being rented as furnished condo. If you don’t dig our style, or you only dig 2-3 pieces of our style, we’re happy to negotiate what furniture stays or goes.

Entryway

We credit this beautiful entryway with giving this place a cozy home feeling. This traditional entryway borrows just enough space and adds exponentially to the home in detail and beautiful woodwork.
The entryway and all living spaces of the home have gorgeous brand-new dark walnut floors.
The original unit did feature a truly heinous built-in storage space, which we opted to remove for the sake of all future residents and our own sanity. We filled the space with this unique piece that highlights beautifully the unit’s tall ceilings. The armoire isn’t all fashion and no function, it serves as excellent storage space. And as part of the furnished condo, we will keep it in the unit for your use if you would like.

Kitchen

Hang a right from the entryway and you’re in the kitchen that was like upgrading from the Motel 6 to the Waldorf-Astoria when we moved from our last place. An oven that fits a full-size cookie sheet?! A freezer that doesn’t leak freon?! This place is too good to be true.

Ample storage space in tall reclaimed Brazilian lyptus cupboards, beautiful granite countertops, brand-new stainless steel appliances, stunning travertine floors – enough to convince me I really do enjoy cooking. Also a delightful place to reheat leftovers from any of the delicious restaurants nearby.

Bathroom

We were thrilled to find this home while it was still under construction and have the chance to add our own personal touch. The most involved of which was the bathroom. We swapped a pedestal sink for cabinets and a countertop (if you own any of the following, you will thank us profusely: a brush, curling iron, hairspray, a toothbrush, extra rolls of toilet paper, Windex), added a beautiful travertine vessel sink and let an audible squeal escape when we found this little beauty.
You will always know your guests have washed their hands because people love washing their hands in this sink.

The bathroom features the same Brazilian lyptus, granite and travertine from the kitchen with rich oil-rubbed bronze plumbing, hardware and light fixtures.

We devoted so much time and energy to give this room an extra dose of luxury, we figured when all was said and done we’d either love it or discover we had absolutely no eye for design. We hope it’s the former.

Formal Dining and Living Rooms

Like the entryway, these rooms add so much to the character of this century-old home. The stunning windows fill the house with tons of natural daylight and afford a beautiful and quiet view of the courtyard below. The windows, doorways and floorboards highlight the charming woodwork found throughout the home.

As with all rooms in the home, these rooms feature custom light and ceiling fan fixtures selected specifically for this unit that add tremendously to the rooms. We spent hours with our heads tilted back, selecting light fixtures and ceiling fans so you don’t have to.

Master Bedroom

The master bedroom is a beautiful, quiet room with east-facing windows for views of the Wasatch Mountains. The room is simply furnished with a striking four-poster bed and armoire for additional storage space.

The bedroom closets, circa 1908, are small – but the armoire and linen closet immediately outside the bedroom have provided plenty of storage space for us. That is – me, my husband and my shoes.

Guest Room/Office

The final room in the home is a guest bedroom/office. We have elected to use the space as a guest room and it is currently furnished with a gorgeous solid wood sleigh bed. The room would also make a fantastic office or den.
